Occupy San Francisco

Occupy San Francisco protests have been going on in the city for a while. It started out as a small effort from a few people and grew to hundreds of people. A couple weeks ago I watched a whole group of demonstrators march down Market Street from my office on the 33rd floor.

The protestors have camped out near the Ferry Building in Justin Herman Plaza. I don't know who Justin Herman was, but I sometimes wonder what he would think of the protestors at the plaza. I must say "camping" next to palm trees can't be all that bad.

They also sleep and hang their signs outside the Federal Reserve building that is located on Market Street about one block from the Ferry Building. I was surprised to see multiple laptops hooked up to generators and people talking loudly into a microphone to anyone who would stop and listen.

It sounds like the protests in Oakland have been bigger and more violent. Yesterday lots of businesses shut down along with some of the ports in the bay. I'm glad I don't commute from Oakland beacuse even the BART system has been affected.
